Biography

Formed in the spring of 2005 in the shadows of Music City USA (Nashville, Tennessee). Devin Lamp, Keller McDivitt, Drew Binkley, Casey Kaufman, Dillon Smith, Chris Click and Michael Thurmon found themselves nestled away in their rehearsal space, working on what has now become The Ascent of Everest. Having seven members from all across the country brings a lot to the table. Each member contributes his or her own style, which is then intertwined with the calming ambient sound of the band.

A common love for music, art, nature and life is evident in the bands emotions, which are played out through their instruments. Their songs sound as if they are meant for the soundtrack of people's lives, often going from slow drones to fast build-ups to exploding pinnacles. All of this just to find yourself right back where you started. The ups and downs of life, portrayed by sounds to be decoded by listeners.

At first glance words like lush, intense, and melodic all rush to mind let us set those aside. We know in doing so we would defile this music, which strives above all to say what words cannot. These are not just songs they are mantras, prayers, hymns written not in hymnals or textbooks but etched into the backs of pews, chairs, and hearts. They echo with the frustrations, elations, torments, and triumphs of a generation unsatisfied with just being disenchanted, bored with just being unconventional, and burning with passions that refuse to be silenced.
