French-born photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson is widely recognized as the father of modern photojournalism. He has inspired countless artists of all kinds with his ability to capture the raw reality of street life. In fact, he inspired a group of musicians from Cantania, Italy so much that they chose to name themselves after him.

HC-B's second album, Soundcheck for a Missing Movie, pays homage to their photographer hero. The band takes us on a journey through images they have captured in their mind, reforming them into a wide variety of tracks, ranging from cliff-hanging moments featuring crashing cymbals and feedback-laden electric guitar to the romantic and melodic sound of glockenspiels and strings. The group not only showcases these elements expertly, but infuses them together along with the sounds of trumpets, samples, clarinet, powerful bass guitar, piano, and synth sounds.

The album successfully provides symphonic drama and seems to cue scenes from the missing movie the band has modeled their second release after. A particularly strong track, "Hot Afternoon in the Bulls' Square", is wildly image-evoking, making the listener feel as if they were witnessing a filming of the running of the bulls in Pamplona. In fact, all of the tracks make the listener feel as if she were on a movie set, perhaps acting on the stage that HC-B sets.

Soundcheck for a Missing Movie is a must-listen for its unique, post rock-based take on the usual symphonic movie soundtrack we expect in our heads, a la John Williams. HC-B is doing something special, and is sure to take you on a journey of epic proportions.
