Overseas - Mare Nostrum

Overseas
Listen to Mare Nostrum

Mare Nostrum is Latin for "Our Sea," or, as it was used in ancient times, a reference to the Mediterranean Sea. Overseas is a Pittsburgh based band, but, sonically, have much in common with their oceanic source of inspiration. "Mare Nostrum" calmly begins, slowly turning the cold body of water as if to wake the ancient giant from a deep slumber. As mother nature begins to conjure up the storm of the century, Overseas retaliates with a surge of guitars and bass, creating tsunami like waves to meet the harsh conditions. The intensity is tempered by a lead guitar, who diverts the cataclysmic eruption and instead drags it out into an extended jam. Some structure is salvaged by the supporting cast, but the free sounding approach to the track gives Overseas a dash of personality and emotion which is lacking in many upstart instrumental acts.

Diligently working away on their debut release over the summer months, Overseas is expecting a Fall release. All eyes are on them to revitalize a struggling Pittsburgh scene.
