Not much is know about Chinese Horses, other than the fact that the band is a young quartet out of the struggling Jacksonville, Florida. But I'm not just using that information as the perfect segue to introducing their track "The Unknown," it's also of note that they have opened up for the likes of Mouth of the Architect, Doomriders, and Red Sparowes. That's some stiff competition, but Chinese Horses are more than up for the task, channeling the barbaric rock of Belegost en route to forging a commanding track. "The Unknown" surges ahead with vitriolic intensity, biting the listener with sharp, jagged guitars and an overall coarse sound. Where others would continually push the needle further into the red, Chinese Horses takes a step back and allows the surmounting tension to deflate itself, ideally allowing the next track easy access to the high road.
Though the band has no proper releases under its belt, it's taken the last few years to fine tune the live act and is slowly working towards that debut release. Hopefully it'll be the stunner that we expect.
