We All Inherit the Moon – Part III

Listen to Part III

We All Inherit the Moon is a globe-spanning, lunar-fixated ambient trio with a refreshing take on self-releasing music – the upcoming We All Inherit the Moon mini-LP is vinyl-only and offered for free download off the band's myspace player. Clearly, the group has a commitment to sonic quality and freedom from the standpoint of distribution, and the same dedication is evident in the music itself. The band does not over-exert itself, stretching a tired idea for far too long, but neither does it leave any ideas under-developed, resulting in powerful, emotive tracks that satisfy the critical ear.

”Part III” is, without a doubt, the best track on offer from the band, dominated by brooding strings and held together by a solid base of guitar ambiance. The drone of the strings holds the track in place, and it is the focus until the glockenspiel comes as a closer. But the thing that impresses most is the level of attention given to the lower layers of the track. While many bands at this stage in their development would either leave no layers beyond the strings at all, or make some overly obvious electronic bips and boops just so everyone knows they're not one-dimensional, We All Inherit the Moon takes the time to lovingly construct multiple layers of guitar work below, or even hidden by, what is above. With this sort of commitment to their craft, it will be no surprise to see We All Inherit the Moon extending beyond their namesake, working hard to reach the stars.
