Nothing snaps the staff out of a late summer lull like a new album from Detektivbyrån. The oft-overlooked trio is no stranger around these parts, so it seems quite amazing that they've yet to release a proper album. Wermland remedies this predicament and remains true to the band's personalized sound -- even expanding upon it in new and unforeseen ways. A playful air permeates the disc as the band doesn't hesitate to throw the kitchen sink into the mix and bring out just about every idiophone you can imagine. It might still be in the upper nineties in the depth of August, but with Wermland on you can almost feel the first turn towards winter.
