While much could be said of The Drift's sophomore album, suffice to say that it's not one you should miss out on in 2008. The band expands its seductive sound on Memory Drawings, refining its sophisticated palette and giving its music more of a lyrical quality. Specifically, the trumpet takes greater liberty at inhabiting the space of "the voice" in the quartet's evolving narrative. As a result, the compositions on board are much more memorable than they were in 2005's Noumena, and even though the latter wasn't short on praise, Memory Drawings should be irresistibly decadent for many.
