When not recycling cellos with Machinefabriek, Aaron Martin is knee deep in the river creating his sophomore release for Australia's lovely Preservation label. River Water is the proper follow up to Almond, which sees the multi-instrumentalist continuing to incorporate a wide range of tools and sounds into his organic network and squeezing out every last heartfelt note that he can. And although Martin uses traditional means throughout the record, there's little that is conventional about River Water, which becomes increasingly experimental as the tracks tick by. Certainly recommended for fans of Julia Kent, Martin offers a refreshingly genuine sound to usher in the new year.
